ORANGE COUNTY, California. May 17, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ — Evangelist Verna Linzey celebrated her 94th birthday speaking at Women’s Aglow, International on the baptism with the Holy Spirit in Cerritos, California on May 13, 2013. Results—one took man received the baptism with the Holy Spirit as confirmed by speaking in tongues.
The event was at Hometown Buffet in Cerritos where Verna was chosen as the keynote speaker this month. After criss-crossing America, including a diversion to Haiti where Verna spoke to a crowd for three days estimated to have numbered at 20,000 Hatians, Women’s Aglow, International, honoured her and the Lord by requesting her ministry with them. The emcee was Jeanette Bouch who is the acting president of the chapter. She honoured Verna with the birthday celebration along with the flowers and card. Glenda introduced Verna, and took a moment to interview her before the crowd. She noted how Verna took time to speak to the Women’s Aglow in the midst of her crusades. Verna’s son, Evangelist Jim Linzey who is Dr. Linzey’s son and road manager, stated, “Amidst the travels, this is really a delightful addition to the itinerary.”
Verna Linzey has ministered for years on Spirit Baptism and the laying on of hands. Many have received the experience as a result. At Women’s Aglow, International, Verna’s primary role was simply to sing and to speak, with no time left over to minister. But afterward, a visiting gentleman went into his private prayer closet to pray and followed Verna’s advice. The man opened his mouth by faith in prayer, and as God gave him “utterance,” meaning his language, by faith he gave voice to it and spoke in tongues for the first time in his life.
Verna Linzey is the author of the award-winning book The Baptism with the Holy Spirit, Spirit Baptism, and editor of Baptism in the Spirit, by her late husband Stanford E. Linzey, Jr. Verna is a highly sought-after speaker and writer of the hymn “Oh Blessed Jesus.”
She matriculated at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, audited the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary, and received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Kingsway University and Theological Seminary.
